Creating CFN resume
On CFN, login to “My CFN,“ then go to “Resume Create, edit” within My CFN menu to access and edit your resume.
Enter your current/most recent education first
For the education background, enter your current/most recent education first.
Internship and full-time work experience should be entered in the work history section.
For students on exchange programs,
1. Enter the university you will be graduating from first.
2. Then “+ Add Education” to enter the information about university/school of the exchange program.
Create summary of your academic life for education detail section
Describe what you studied at the university and highlight key aspects of your academic life in about 600 – 1000 letters. (You can enter up to 3000 letters, however, keeping it under 1000 letters is recommended for readability.)
Example:
Past: Why this university/major/field of study, why you decided to do study abroad
Current: What have you learned, acquired, and/or improved.
Future: How will you apply the skills and knowledge you gained
Make your episodes are organized and concise
When writing your self-PR, choose a strong episode that highlights your strengths and describe it clearly and concisely. (You can enter up to 6000 letters, however, keeping it under 1000 letters is recommended. )
Example ideas:
Challenges Overcome: Academic projects, activities, internships, etc.
Teamwork: Leadership roles, collaboration with a team
Initiative and actions taken: Problem solving experiences
Create both your Japanese and English CFN resume
Company decides which version resume to use for applications. On the job posting, check which version resume you will need to submit.
Within the resume page, click on the tab on top for Japanese/English resume. Make sure to save once you finish editing your CFN resume.

You will need to check in at registration everyday during the Career Forum. Check-in using the CFN App. Download (free) the app here!

Companies may contact your during the Career Forum. Bring a portable charger for your phone/computer/tablet to recharge if needed. Chargers are not available at the Career Forum.

There is no dress code for the Career Forum. Suit is not required. If you have interviews, dress appropriately to impress your future employer.

Q.Is there a dress code?
There are no specific dress code. We recommend dressing appropriately for the purpose you are participating for. Depending on the event, you may walk around a lot just by visiting booths, so please choose shoes that you are used to and comfortable to walk in
Q.What is a walk-in?
walk-in refers to visiting the company booths without a prior interview appointment. Sometimes, walk-in can lead to the start of the interview process so make sure to have your resume ready.
Q.Is there a place to store belongings?
There is a cloakroom at the venue. What you can store and the cost will depend on the Career Forum.
Career Forums in Japan
(Tokyo Summer Career Forum, Osaka Career Forum, Tokyo Winter Career Forum)
The cloakroom is free for use. Large items such as suitcases can be checked in. However, small items such as umbrellas and coats cannot. If raining, bringing a foldable umbrella is recommended for easy carry or store in your bag.
Career Forums outside of Japan
(Boston Career Forum, Los Angeles Career Forum, London Career Forum)
Cost to store items will depend on the venue. For details, please check the Career Forum’s FAQ page or the event hall map which will become available online a few days before the event.
Q.Can I print my resume at the event?
There is a printer available for use for free. However, it is recommended to print you resume in advance incase there is a long line to use the printer.
Q.Is it fine to have my own resume format?
Yes, you can bring your own resume. Including a photo on your Japanese resume will be up to you and is not required.
Q.Can underclassmen participate?
Underclassmen are more than welcome to participate! Many companies are also recruiting for internships, so we encourage you to visit company booths.
Q.Is there an area inside the event hall where I can eat and take a break?
There is a Candidate Lounge in the event hall, where you can rest, prepare for job hunting, and eat or drink. The rules for bringing in food and drinks from outside vary depending on each Career Forum.
Career Forums in Japan
(Tokyo Summer Career Forum, Osaka Career Forum, Tokyo Winter Career Forum)
You can bring in food and drinks purchased outside and eat or drink in the Candidate Lounge.
Career Forums outside of Japan
(Boston Career Forum, Los Angeles Career Forum, London Career Forum)
Eating and drinking in the Candidate Lounge is allowed, but depending on the venue, only food and drinks purchased at the venue’s stores may be permitted. Some items like water or snacks may be brought in, but deliveries will not be allowed inside the event hall.
Q.Is Wi-Fi available at the venue?
Depending on the Career Forum, wi-fi within the event hall may be available. Some may only be available in the main lobby, but not inside the event hall.
Q.Is re-entry allowed?
You will need to check in at candidate registration every day of the event. Once you check-in, you will be able to enter and leave the Career Forum at anytime.
Q.Can I receive pamphlets from participating companies?
There is a reference area where you can collect materials from various companies. Just collecting these materials will provide a wealth of information about each company.
