Who We Are

Business Profile

Striving to Become the World's Number One Integrated Steel Trading Company

In March 2002, Mitsubishi Corporation and Sojitz Corporation, two of the largest trading companies in Japan, both with a strong presence in the steel industry, agreed to merge their steel operations to form a new joint venture company. In January 2003, Metal One Corporation was established. The establishment of this new company would allow management to focus more on the rapidly changing steel environment existing at that time. In October 2003, the US steel sales subsidiary companies of Mitsubishi Corporation and Sojitz Corporation merged to form Metal One America, Inc. This newly established company would be responsible for steel trading activities of both North and South America. Built on the Sogo Shosha (Japanese trading company) foundation, Metal One leverages centuries of domain expertise to help its customers achieve their growth potential while simultaneously reducing their input costs. Similarly, our supply partners benefit from access to new markets and customers to expand their market reach.
